Newly built over the next few years, these were Chrysler's major models in the 1960s. The front end design was controversial at the time it debuted, though its styling has since become commonly accepted as one of automotive design’s most iconic ever (Elements of its design can still be seen today). Chrysler introduced the first generation of its Town-and-Country minivans, which incorporated the platform and body design of the Pacer sedan (part of Chrysler's Metro sub-brand) into a two-door wagon body. Due to its success, the Pacer was redesigned again as the 1974 model year Pacer Wagon, but this time with four doors. This continued on through 1978 with Minor/March/Rebirth models which included the Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager. The last Town & Country rolled off assembly lines in 1981. Chrysler's first front-drive compact, the Plymouth Horizon, was introduced alongside the new Chrysler Cordoba. The Horizon was the last Plymouth model to use the company's traditional styling crests on its fenders, but it also featured Chrysler's new front-wheel drive B-body platform, which would be used by other models in both brands for decades. The rear engined Dodge Colt arrived on September 10 of this year. Available as a 2 or 4 passenger coupe or convertible and with either a 665 cc 2 cylinder engine or 703 cc 4 cylinder engine (later an 850 cc engine became an option), the Colt sold well… at first. While Dodge's new entry level hatchback was reasonably successful in its first year, it would eventually become a financial write-off. The Plymouth Satellite, the company's all new full-size model, is introduced as part of Chrysler's "Forward Look." The Satellite would set the template for the basic look and features of future B and C body cars at Chrysler. The 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury is introduced as a coupe or convertible based on the basic layout of the Plymouth Fury I. The Sport Fury was noted for having a much lower and more streamlined appearance than other models in its class, and it quickly became one of Chrysler's most popular offerings. cfa1e77820
