This 2003 Swedish film by director Lukas Moodysson is a fast-paced tale of love and drug addiction. The protagonist, Christian is a 17-year old who starts abusing cocaine with his friends in an attempt to fit in, but soon falls in love with drug dealer Tove. Christian's parents are worried about their son's behavior and try to help Christian get clean, but when the treatment fails Christian moves back in with his grandparents. There he meets Mona, an older woman with a heart condition who helps him cope with the ups and downs of his life... to be continued... An international cast are portraying these two female counterparts struggling to survive in this industry dominated by men. The film also stars Anthony Head (Dr Who) as Roderick Spodeoza who runs London’s most prestigious theatre company producing challenging contemporary fiction. Awards: The film was premiered at Gothenburg Film Festival and received a wide release in the beginning of January 2007. "Bride" has been sold to more than 20 countries worldwide. It has won several awards, including the audience award at the Gothenburg Film Festival and a special recognition for acting from the Stockholm International Film Festival. "Bride" was nominated for four Guldbagge Awards, Sweden’s version of the Oscars, including best film of 2006. The film has been nominated for four Amanda Awards, including best director of a film, best actress and two nominations in the category of best screenplay nomination.
